Michel Langlois Hells Angels – Popeyes MC

When Michel Langlois was in his early twenties he joined the Popeyes Motorcycle Club, a club who would become the second largest outlaw motorcycle club in Canada behind the Satan’s Choice Motorcycle Club. The Popeyes were the largest French speaking club and also the largest in Quebec.

Other prominent members of the Popeyes were their President Yves “Le Boss” Buteau and well known hitman Yves “Apache” Trudeau.

On 5 December, 1977 the Hells Angels MC patched over the Popeyes MC, making the club the first Canadian chapter for the Hells Angels.

The President of the Canadian Hells Angels MC was Yves Buteau, at least this was the case up until his shooting death on 8 September, 1983. It was at this point that Michel Langlois was selected to take over the role of Hells Angels Canadian National President, however the role of the Hells Angels Montreal chapter President based in the town of Sorel would go to Rejean Lessard, aka “Zig Zag”.

In March, 1997 Michel Langlois left the Hells Angels Montreal chapter along with 7 other members and 2 prospects. Together they formed the Hells Angels South chapter.

Michel Langlois Hells Angels – Crime

1985 – 24 March, 1985. 5 members of the Hells Angels are murdered by other members of the club in an event that would come to be known as the Lennoxville Massacre. Word was out that the police had a warrant out for his arrest so he decided to skip the country, fleeing to Morocco for two years. In April of 1988 he returned to the country and handed himself in to police. He was convicted of being an accessory after the fact to murder, as he had assisted with disposing of the bodies of the murdered members. He receives a two year prison sentence.

1998 – 18 January, 1998. Robert Savard, a close confidant of Maurice “Mom” Boucher and friend of the Hells Angels, is arrested in Lacolle, Canada in possession of 178 kilograms of cocaine which had been hidden inside the walls of a trailer he was towing behind his vehicle. On 14 October, 1998 Michel Langlois is charged with importing and conspiring to import cocaine. On 9 July, 1999 he is sentenced after pleading guilty to three different drug cases and receives a 5 year prison sentence along with a fine of $20,000.

2015 – March, 2015. As part of Operation SharQ Michel Langlois, along with dozens of other members, is charged with taking part in a general conspiracy to commit murder. He pleads guilty. As part of Operation SharQc the land on which their original Montreal clubhouse located in the town of Sorel sits was confiscated by the Canadian government. These charges stemmed from the Quebec Biker War which ran from 1994 to 2002. At least 162 deaths were associated with this dark period in Canadian outlaw biker history and it is some of these deaths that can be linked back to the conspiracy charges against Michel Langlois and his counterparts.
