Road Knights MC (Motorcycle Club)
Road Knights MC is a one percenter motorcycle club founded in Timaru, New Zealand, in 1979. Recent years has seen the club expand internationally to the Netherlands, Thailand and the USA.
Road Knights MC History
The Road Knights Motorcycle club was founded in Timaru, New Zealand, in 1979.
In January 1986 the Road Knights Invercargill chapter was established. It is believed that this chapter was established after the British Motorcycle Club (who were not a one percenter motorcycle club) closed down. The members from this club were mainly split between the Road Knights and the Damned MC. There would then be ongoing tension and battles between Road Knights and Damned over the following years. See the “Crime / In The Media” section further down in this article for more information.
In 1995 the Road Knights Dunedin chapter was established.
In 2012 the motorcycle club went to Thailand and opened a chapter in the coastal town of Pattaya, which is approximately 60 miles south of the Thailand capital city of Bangkok.
Road Knights USA was founded next. While details are hard to find, it is believed that this occurred in early to mid 2015. The first of the Road Knights United States chapters was located in Ohio.

Road Knights MC Patch / Motto / Colors
The Road Knights patch consists of a skeleton wearing a knights helmet with two halberds behind.
The Road Knights colors are black and red.
The Road Knights use the abbreviation of “RKFFRK”, which stands for “Road Knights Forever, Forever Road Knights”. This style of abbreviation if very common amongst outlaw motorcycle clubs.

Famous Road Knights MC Members
While there are no famous Road Knights members in a celebrity sense, there are some who have gained more media attention.
Grant Percy – Road Knights President Invercargill Chapter
Grant Percy was the Road Knights Invercargill Chapter President in the mid 1990s during the battles with the Black Power street gang. He was interviewed by the television show 60 Minutes in the mid 1990s to discuss the Invercargill tensions.
Road Knights MC Crime / In The Media
1987 – August, 1987. A member of Damned MC driving attack is attacked by members of the Road Knights in Invercargill. The Damned MC member dies in the fight. It is believed that the attack was the result of a previous hit and run attempt on the Road Knights. Three Road Knights members were charged with murder, but the charges were later dismissed.
1987 – A bomb is is set off at the Road Knights Invercargill clubhouse. There are 4 people inside at the time, however none are injured.
2008 – 19 June, 2008. The Road Knights Invercargill clubhouse is torched. Members of the Mongrel Mob street gang, of whom are enemies of the Road Knights, turned up to watch the building burn and yelled chants, before they were moved on by police. Police later raided the nearby Mongrel Mob clubhouse and found two Harley Davidson motorcycles on fire, believed to be owned by the Road Knights. The police make four arrests in relation to the motorbikes on fire and then later make a further 2 arrests for the clubhouse fire.
2013 – 28 November, 2013. A 10 month police investigation named “Operation Crimson” is completed in the Invercargill area and 14 search warrants are executed which results in 17 arrests, most of whom are connected to the Road Knights. Houses, motorbikes, drugs and nearly $40,000 were seized. 195 charges are laid.

Road Knights MC Enemies and Allies
Road Knights MC enemies:
- Devils Henchmen MC are enemies.
- Damned MC are enemies. Damned MC in Invercargill patched over to become a Devils Henchmen MC chapter in 1989. Only a year after the patching over the chapter was shut down.
- Mongrel Mob (street gang) are enemies.
- Black Power (street gang) are enemies. Mid 1990’s battles including bombings.
