Finks MC History

The Finks MC was founded in Adelaide, Australia in 1969.

The motorcycle club name originates from The Wizard of Id cartoon, where the line “The King is a fink” is often shouted.

Details of the club’s early days are difficult to find, with most information about the club focussing on the years from 2008 onwards, when the Perth Chapter was formed and tensions between the Finks and other clubs rose significantly, often resulting in violence.

In 2008 the Finks MC Perth Chapter was founded by Troy Mercanti, who was previously in the Coffin Cheaters MC and Frank Condo, who was in the Finks MC South Australian chapter. Interstate Finks Motorcycle Club members then came to join this chapter, however they then began dropping off to the point where the Perth chapter membership numbers could be counted on one hand.

The creation of the Finks MC Perth chapter did have the result of causing tension with the Coffin Cheaters MC, to the point where there was a fight in the Perth Motorplex in early October 2010. More information about this fight can be found in the crime/media section later in this article.

In late 2013 the Finks Motorcycle Club Perth Chapter were patched over by the Mongols, as well as the majority of other chapters in Australia.

A list of the Finks Membership Rules were leaked in 2012. These can be viewed in our seperate article, Finks Membership Rules.

Finks MC Patch

The main character on the patch is a depiction of “Bung”, a character from The Wizard of Id cartoon. The colour of the pants on the character differ depending on the state of club membership.

In 2014 there was a redesign of the Finks patch, where there was a transition from the drunk character Bung, to a much more aggressive character. A senior member of the club said at the time that this was done partly to send a message to Mongols MC, who had patched over the Finks Perth Chapter.

This investigation was focused on the state of South Australia.

Much of the media attention for the Finks Motorcycle Club has been in the years since 2010, despite the club existing since 1969.

  • 2010 – October, 2010. The creation of the Finks MC Perth chapter did have the result of causing tension with the Coffin Cheaters MC, to the point where there was a fight in the Perth Motorplex on the weekend of 2nd-3rd October 2010. The two clubs were attending the Harley Street Bike Drag Racing event where it is claimed that one club member spat on a rival. One of the Finks MC members, David Marrapodi, was shot in the leg and another, Stephen Wallace, had three fingers sliced off. A third man had serious head wounds.
  • 2010 – November, 2010. Following the Perth Motorplex fight mentioned above, members of the Finks Motorcycle Club were charged with contempt after refusing to cooperate with a joint Western Australia Police and Corruption and Crime Commission investigation. Clovis Chikonga, Troy Smith, Stephen Laurence Silvestro, Tristan Roger Allbeury, and Stephen Wallace were imprisoned for two years.
  • 2010 – November, 2010. The Perth Finks clubhouse is frozen under the proceeds of crime act after Perth Chapter Founder Troy Mercanti’s partner, Tammy Kingdon, is convicted by a District Court jury of four counts of stealing and one count of property laundering. The money was funnelled from a Coffin Cheaters trust fund set up for the daughters of Marc Chabriere, who was a Coffin Cheaters member murdered during the 1998 bikie war between the Coffin Cheaters and the Club Deroes Motorcycle Club. The stolen money from the fund was used to purchase the Finks clubhouse.

  • The Finks best known enemy is the Coffin Cheaters MC. Much of the animosity between the clubs can be tied back to members of the Coffin Cheaters Motorcycle Club defecting to begin the Finks Perth Chapter.
  • The Finks MC are strong allies of Comanchero MC.
  • A majority of the Finks members patched over to the Mongols MC in 2013.
