Original Red Devils MC (Motorcycle Club)

Original Red Devils MC were a one percenter motorcycle club founded in Hamilton, Ontario in 1948.

On 8 November, 2014 the club was patched over by Bacchus MC.

The club should not be confused with several other clubs who also use variations of the “Red Devils” name, including the Hells Angels support club “Red Devils MC”, who also have chapters in similar areas of Canada. These outlaw motorcycle clubs are not related in any way.

Original Red Devils MC History

The Original Red Devils Motorcycle Club were founded in Hamilton, Ontario in 1948, making them the oldest outlaw motorcycle club in Canada.

It is worth noting that the club’s name was actually “Red Devils”, however to differentiate themselves from the many other motorcycle clubs using similar names they added the “Original” onto the front of their name.

The Red Devils Chatham Chapter was opened in 2001 and the Red Devils Sudbury Chapter in January 2014.

On 8 November, 2014, Bacchus MC patched over the Original Red Devils.

Original Red Devils MC Patch / Motto / Colors

The Original Red Devils patch is of the devil colored red, wearing a cape and holding a pitchfork.

The Original Red Devils colors are red and black.

Original Red Devils MC Chapters

The Original Red Devils Motorcycle Club had three chapters based in Canada. They did not have any chapters based internationally.

  • Original Red Devils Sudbury Chapter

Famous Original Red Devils MC Members

The Original Red Devils do not have any famous members in a celebrity sense, however there are some members who have gained more media attention than others.

Ray Philp – Original Red Devils President

Ray Philp was the President and spokesperson for the Red Devils Motorcycle Club. He patched over to Bacchus MC in 2014.

Original Red Devils MC Crime / In The Media

1984 – 9 May, 1984. Multiple shots are fired into the Devils Hamilton chapter clubhouse. Devils member Michael Carey, aged 32, is killed. The club then decided to reinforce the clubhouse with a cinderblock wall should any further attacks occur. The cinderblock wall can be seen, painted black, in the clubhouse photo towards the top of this article.

2000 – The Original Red Devils clubhouse in Hamilton is raided by police, using a truck to flatten a chainlink fence, a battering ram to smash in doors and concussion grenades. In the raids the police uncover 2 shotguns, a rifle, ammunition and a small amount of drugs.

2010 – 1 December, 2010. Police execute search warrants on multiple properties and charge 3 members of the Original Red Devils Motorcycle Club, along with a woman, of running an unauthorized lottery. The searches also uncovered marijuana, ecstasy, ammunition and cash.

2011 – 19 November, 2011. Police raid the Original Red Devils clubhouse in Chatham with beliefs that the property were breaking laws in the Liquor Licence Act. As part of the raids police seized 13 bottles of liquor, over 120 bottles of beer and $2000 cash. Two arrests were made at the property, with one man charged with possession of a prohibited weapon. The other man was charged with assaulting a police officer.
